Governor Schewiter to Fill Chinook Helicopter with Montana Water for Hurricane Victims - Invites Helenans to Help
(HELENA) - Governor Schweitzer and the Montana National Guard are invitingPlease, don't get me wrong, I think it is a VERY good idea to help out the victims of this horrible tragedy, but Gov, WTF? Why don't you send the helicopter down there filled with water, cash, antibiotics, gas, food, guardsmen and then leave it there to help out for a week or so. This just reeks of a publicity stunt. Think of how much gas it will cost to fly the helicopter from MT to LA just filled with water. Somebody in the gov's office clearly didn't eat their Wheaties this morning.
Helenans to bring bottled water to the parking lot of the YMCA, 1200 Last Chance
Gulch, behind the old Armory, at 1:00PM today. The water will then be loaded into a Chinook Helicopter headed to the Disaster area to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Frankly, I am shocked that the helicopter is not full of bolo ties.

A politician definately couldn't sincerely want to help people, could he? Give me a break. He is using the resources he has to help people. What are you doing?
It sounds like I appreciate your opinion as much as you appreciate mine. I wish that I could say that I was the only person who made comments similar to mine – folks from all over the political spectrum. ANYWAY – the answer to your question is cash, my hard earned cash. Oh and using as little gas as possible. . .
Thanks for reading and keeping it real on the blog. I look forward to more of your comments!
my first post!! (it won't accept any user name i ask it. stupid technology.)
so here are my 2 cents, it may or may not be political hubris - i'm not venturing to say, but at least it's something. this is a way to know that things you want to donate get to those that need it and get there quickly - whether it's the most efficient way, who knows. it's the only mechanism to get things I may want to donate to victims of Katrina physically there. Other than monetary donations to the red cross, etc.
in my opinion, bushie baby should have to answer for his mia status thru all of this. flying the plane to 1600 feet to survey the damage a couple of days after the hurricane doesn't cut it. he claimed that no one saw this coming, which is complete BS. fema knew, louisiana knew and was begging for help long before katrina hit. i wonder if new orleans was manhattan how the response by the feds might have been different.
thanks for the discourse.

I completely agree that some federal feet should be held to the fire in a serious way.
I just wish that FNN would cover something other than poor minorities looting in response to the hurricane. Giving the conservative collective with more reasons not to care or help. I am sure they will find a way to blame Clinton. . . they always do.
Something else to think about, I wonder how many little girls will be named Katrina from here on out?
agreed - these so-called looters need to be given the benefit of the doubt, if i was swimming in toxic waste in 100 degree heat, no clean water and with no response whatsoever from the world's most powerful country for one week, hard to say i wouldn't be pillaging myself.
sending dick cheney ain't gonna fix it either.
this is worth reading: http://www.wonkette.com/politics/bush-sees-the-bright-side-123665.php
Poor Trent Lott - sure hope he gets a porch soon.

I hear that even Trent is pissed and calling for the Pres. to get off his fat ass and cut some red tape. That must have been one hell of a front porch.
I realize this is a little late and may not be read, but one of the major problems is that FEMA was rolled into Homeland Security instead of being its own entity therefore making more red tape. The other problem that no one wants to say is that Louisianna is just as much to blame. Not all of the state was hit and those communities could have done a lot more immediately after the shit hit. Not everything can be the federal governments fault.
As for a helecopter filled with water - yes - publicity stunt. But, no one action is going to be perfect but, its something. I say use the helecopter to bring back some of the misplaced dogs to find them homes.
