Community of faith - Faith, pro-choice stance are compatible beliefs
Here is my favorite quote - and it was HARD to choose, the whole letter is amazing.
"The challenge that we all face as people of conviction is to find ways in which we can put some of that rhetoric aside and work together to lower the rate of abortions. Perhaps in the end - that is what would make God smile - to see us working together beyond our deep divisions with respect, trust and mutuality. I continue to pray for that day."
Frankly, the response has me stunned.
Community of Faith - Focus on what works regarding abortion
"Likewise, if we support fetal life, contraception is essential. Reduce unintended pregnancies and we will reduce abortion. Abstinence for teens is good advice if they would follow it, but insufficient even if they do, since adult women have four out of every five abortions. Making contraceptives widely available, easily affordable; their proper use well-understood and socially affirmed will reduce abortion. We know this. Can we work on it together for the sake of life?"
Seriously - I want to send flowers to both of these women, as a person who recieved a slew of shit mail after celebrating the anniversary of Roe V. Wade, I know just what they are going through.
Ahhh - here is one. Questioning her faith. Seriously, she has dedicated her life to the church and you wonder what bible she is reading? I am sorry, but go fuck yourself dude. Next time you have to make a decision about your health care, let me consult MY bible.
