While we drove my Nissan Sentra - one of the highest rated cars for fuel economy among any of the cars including hybrids - to Coleville, WA for labor day, Hubby and I had some time to reflect on gas prices.
Here is what he said to our Gov.
But what he didn't know at the time of his letter was that our gas prices in MT were second highest in the nation, now we are third, but still that is FUCKING RIDICULOUS! Seriously, we get saddled with all of the pollution and then take it in the ass at the pump. Frankly, I don't buy it that it is all due to the gas taxes, but let them tow their line. I have seriously asked several refineriers personally, that is all what they say. Crazy.
Something must give. Oh and it is the same for electricity and natural gas. Coal from MT being burned in MT, polluting our air, natural gas wells all over the great MT highline and WE ARE PAYING OUT THE ASS FOR IT. Demand better.
How can we fix it? No, seriously, how?
Buy only Sinclair gas?
Stop using electricity?
Write letters?

For the first time in months, gas is just under $3 a gallon here. I was like, wow! But then again, $2.89 a gallon is still really baaaad...
My next car will be from the Saturn green line.
Update - Sinclair is pulling out of MT.
Great. Just great.
Oh and I forgot to add - if you are going to buy gas, please don't buy Exxon gas. They are simply terrible. Conoco is the way to go. They actually care about the environment - as much as a refinery can. The Montana Conoco won a national EPA award for their environmental strides.
