Egad! College May Change Your World Views

Run for cover! Hide your children. Lock them up in the nearest bomb shelter. I have a secret to tell you.....going to college might challenge their world views.

While I was happily skimming through my favorite far-right email alert from Focus on the Family, I came across this gem:
"A lot of times they run into people that think very differently than they do," he told Family News in Focus. "(Their roommates are) brought up in a very different context, maybe believing the opposite of what many of them believe."
Well, coming from an extremely small town in Eastern Montana, I guess I was hoping for this kind of exposure when I went to school. I wanted to learn new things, meet people that weren't exactly like me. I had no idea the fear this would cause Christian conservatives.

Thankfully, we have some wise words from a nice Christian in North Dakota
Ginna Hardie, who attends North Dakota State University, said her roommate had decidedly different views, but the experience was still a good one.
"She partied a little bit, but she was really careful because she knew what I believed," Hardie remembered. "She didn't want to make it awkward."

This may come as a shock to some, but yes, liberals are actually accepting of other people's views. They also can be considerate people.

I remember the first bonding experience of my freshman roomie and myself. We were at a party at my brother's house the weekend before school started. We both had to pee, there was a long line at the bathroom. We looked at each other and said at the same time, "Wanna go outside?" As we peed in the alley, we knew we would be friends forever, despite the fact that we had different political views. Now that's a bond that can't be broken.

I was definately the bad roommate my freshman year. AND I had mellowed quite a bit since highschool. Thank god Rugby offered me an outlet for my excessive drinking and partying. Rah Black Widows!

If those Focus on the Family folks don't want their kids meeting others - keep em in dem dere Christian schools. The tax payers don't need to foot their bill through school anyway. Campus christian organizers - blah!
