"WASHINGTON - The Bush administration formalized its plan to sell more than 300,000 acres of national forest to help pay for rural schools in 41 states, submitting legislation to Congress Thursday to funnel $800 million to the schools during the next five years."
Let's try to be honest for a second (and I know that is hard) but if this passes that money will NOT go to rural schools, it will go to fund the little Middle East Oil Gathering project. Seriously, since when has this administration OR this congress given two shits about education unless it is to teach children about Adam and Eve or sex education lies. It is all a front to get money for the war.
Besides this plan being based on fucking LIES, selling national forest lands is a BAD IDEA. The Forest Service has been swapping these "expensive, hard to manage" lands for years for better land to protect wildlife and open spaces. Public lands are critical to the West. I stress the word Critical. The health of our land, air, water and wildlife hinge upon keeping our public lands closed to private development. If we wanted to live in industrial and urban sprawl, we would move to New Jersey.
Why is it when the government runs out of money, the West gets fucked? Here I go with the same old tirade - WE DO NOT have to compromise the environment for economy. There is a better way.

I'm beginning to suspect that the tapeworm I had last spring might have conceivably done a better job as president if he had been given the chance. Sadly, my owners may have ended the last, best hope of the American people when they gave me the medicine that ended his life.
