Even though I was once subject to a painfully long and drunk conversation about Skid Row with him, I voted for him anyway. Not for his history as a buttrocker, or necessarily for his politico savvy, but because the kid worked his ass off. Hard. He had letters to the editor in support of his campaign almost daily, he had signs all over town, honk and waves, a website, and well, an interesting strategy, reaching out to the younger voters by skulking around the most popular bars. Everytime I went out (which isn't as often as it used to be) he was there, all dressed fancy, beer in hand. Uf-duh. Good thing he is young, his liver must hurt!
I am happy for him. I am also proud that Helenans aren't ageist. He is young! I hope that he moves H-Town forward in recycling efforts and greening up development around here.
On another note, I am kind of bummed that the woman who ran for City Judge lost. There are a lot of dudes in our local government, and when we have the opportunity to elect at least one woman, we get another dude. Bob. I am sure in a place like Helena, he won on the issues. Like Hubby says, I am sexist. I vote for women. Sue me.
