Giving Westerners a Say

There is a movement to create a Western primary for presidential elections. Believing that the West is the future of the Democratic party, and also that Dems need to be more in touch with Western values, we should be able to have a stronger say in the election of our presidential candidate.

If you agree, there is an online peition. The last day to sign is TODAY!

Here's a sample of the petition:

The future of the Democratic Party lies out west, as it is home to some of the fastest growing areas in the United States.

We the undersigned active Democrats therefore request that the Democratic National Committee and Chairman Howard Dean, support the creation of a Mountain West Primary/Caucus on February 5th, 2008 to give a greater voice to Western states, as they are the new battleground for Democrats to win in 2008.

Further, the February 5th, 2008 Primary/Caucus would allow the eight states involved: Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Nevada to have more say in the democratic process.

After the last election, I think we can all agree that Iowa doesn't know shit! Let's give Westerners a chance to weigh in.

This could be scary, Utah just saved up a bunch of $$ to get the Primaries in their state. Great, a bunch of Mormons selecting who the next president - no thank you!
